The Story Behind ER Watch
Hi, my name is Ahmaad Ansari. I'm the sole developer and designer behind ER Watch, with a mission to bring real-time hospital wait times to everyone. Together with my friend Samsoor Akberzai, we brainstormed the idea, and I took on the challenge to bring it to life.
ER Watch was developed to address the challenges faced by patients waiting in emergency rooms, often without knowing how long the wait will be. Having seen firsthand the uncertainty and stress of these situations, we aimed to build a tool that provides real-time information about ER wait times to help patients make informed decisions in genuine emergencies.
As the lead developer of ER Watch, I was responsible for designing and implementing both the user interface and the server-side logic, ensuring the tool was straightforward and efficient. My colleague Samsoor provided essential input to help guide the project in a way that prioritizes accurate, real-time information for those facing true medical emergencies.
ER Watch aims to improve transparency in the emergency room experience by providing live wait times. This platform serves to inform those with urgent medical needs, helping them make quicker decisions when facing a medical emergency. For non-urgent medical issues that require medical attention, visits to walk-in and urgent care clinics should be considered a more suitable option to help decrease ER volume and ensure timely care for patients with serious injuries or illnesses.
